North Carolina Native Claims $100 Million in CA

A Santee woman is celebrating after winning $100 million in the California State Quick Pick Lottery Thursday night. Charlotte Keys, 34, claimed her prize on Friday morning in La Jolla.

“I was so excited! I could not believe it. It was pure excitement, like when I got my first little dog. Complete shock”, said Keys. She walked into the local 7-eleven, preparing for another shift, and handed her tickets to the manager working the register. Keys treats herself to five of the one-dollar Quick Picks each week.  After scanning one of those five tickets, the manager beamed. He told Keys she had won. Her own excitement skyrocketed with the knowledge that she possessed the winning ticket.

Despite her earnings, Keys says she has no desire to leave her job, although she does have big plans. Keys hopes to open a first-rate Laundromat in Beverly Hills, CA. The two-story building will include it’s own coffee shop and boast the latest magazines available for visitors. She would like to move out of her current home and reside in an apartment on the second story of her business along with her husband, Andrew Keys, who has yet to be informed of his wife’s winnings. Still, the outgoing woman will not shy away from her duties. “I’d like to be on the floor with my customers,” said Keys.

A proud 7-eleven employee of 10 years, Keys has no plans to leave her job. “I take a lot of pride in my work,” keys stated. She added, “I’m a slurpee specialist now.”

When asked if she was a shopaholic, as printed on the t-shirt she wore at the press conference Friday morning, Keys exclaimed, “Now I am!”

The winning numbers were 5, 45, 16, 11, 16, and 9.
