A Santee woman is celebrating after winning $100 million in the California State Quick Pick Lottery Thursday night. Charlotte Keys, 34, claimed her prize on Friday morning in La Jolla. “ When I first learned that I won, Hell I was excited, I could not believe it, it was pure excitement it was like when I got my first dog it was pure shock!” said Keys.
Keys, who was originally a resident in her home town in Goldsborough, North Carolina, hopes to move to Beverly Hills in Los Angeles County with her husband Andrew Keys and open a Laundromat. “This Laundromat won’t be just your average Laundromat it’ll be real fancy and clean and it will have a coffee shop with magazines to read,” said Keys. She hopes to build her apartment on top of the facility to maintain it herself and keep things in order. Keys, recalls as a young child how she would always go with her mom to the Laundromat and the facility wasn’t very well kept and was filthy with no entertainment whatsoever.
Keys said that she would not donate any of the money to organizations for children or disastrous relief programs, but rather pay all her bills, build her own Laundromat and put the rest of the money in a savings account.
She is very confident that she will not go into bankruptcy and spend all her money that she won, unlike the previous California Lottery Winners. Keys who has been working for 7-eleven as a Slurpee Specialist for the past ten years says that she still wants to work for 7-eleven. If her Laundromat fails, her alternative option would most likely be to sell it.
Keys first moved to California when she married her husband Andrew after meeting him at a Rodeo in North Carolina. Her husband had first came to North Carolina looking for work, but he has never maintained a stable job. Just recently, Keys was fired as Garbage Truck Driver. “My husband was fired from his job just simply because he sucked at it.” After riding on the mechanical bull her husband had followed her into the parking lot and it was love at first sight. Key’s however had always wanted to move to California as a child to meet a star just like any other child’s dream.
She hopes to meet Michael Jackson, The Jonas Brothers (because they are cute) and Paris Hilton Mother one day, as they are her favorite idols. Keys, unfortunately was informed of Jackson death earlier today at the news conference, she was in shock and took a moment of silence. “He’s a brilliant person and artist, I grew up listening to his music” said Keys.
Keys, would also like to meet Paris Hilton Mother, she said that young heiress mom raised her very well and that she turned out to be a brilliant person, I think she’s so smart,” said Keys. She hasn’t seen a young woman who is so smart, doesn’t work, rich and who makes great decisions, such as making a video of herself to try to be well known in the spotlight. When asked how her reaction would be if the young heiress mom were to walk in the room, her response was “ Why I would just simply pass out.”
Keys who husband has not been informed yet will receive the news later on today. The quick pick numbers were 5, 45, 16, 11, 16 and power ball number was 9. She would also like to tell those who don’t think that she is intelligent, that “ I ain’t low class.”
