Local Woman Wins Lottery

A Santee woman is celebrating after winning $100 million in the California State Quick Pick Lottery Thursday night. Charlotte Keys, 34, claimed her prize on Friday morning in La Jolla.

“I was so exited I could not believe it, it was pure excitement, like when I got my first dog,” exclaimed Keys when she found out she had won. Keys picked up her five dollars in quick pick tickets from the 7-Eleven where she worked Thursday night. When she came to work Friday morning she was shocked when her co-worker told her she had the winning numbers.

Keys intends to use her money to pay off all her debts and open her own laundry mat in Beverly Hills that includes magazines and a coffee shop. She said if it is successful she intends to start a franchise. It had been a dream of hers since childhood. She also has plans for an apartment above her laundry mat for her and her husband of 10 years, Andrew Keys, to live. After all these goals are met she said she would save some of the money. Despite the money, she says she may still keep her job at 7-11 due to her high status of slurpee specialist as well as manage her laundry mat.

Keys is from the town of Goldsboro, North Carolina and she moved to San Diego 10 years ago to see celebrities. Around the same time she met her husband to be at a rodeo bar and they were married soon after. This win came at a perfect time for her due to her husband being between jobs and the bills needing paying.

“I’m just so glad, the creditors will stop calling and I can finally answer my phone,” said Keys.

The winning numbers are 5, 45, 16, 11, 16, and 9.
