Southern Gal Wins Big Bucks

A Santee woman is celebrating after winning $100 million in the California State Quick Pick Lottery Thursday night. Charlotte Keys, 34, claimed her prize Friday morning in La Jolla.

“I was so excited! I couldn’t believe it. It was like when I got my first dog. Pure shock.” gleams Keys. Although, her winnings are grand her plans are small. Shaking her head toward charities, Keys plans on putting her money in a wiser investment. Hoping to fulfill a dream of hers since she was young, Keys wants to open a laundry business in Beverly Hills. “This won’t be an ugly laundry mat”, said Keys. “It’ll have magazines and a coffee shop.” Above her future business, Keys plans to build an apartment where she and her husband of tens years, Andrew Keys, will live.

Working as a Slurpee Specialist at a local 7-Eleven, Keys would normally buy five Quick Pick tickets every week. On this particular Friday, Keys handed her ticket to a coworker for a second check on the numbers. They matched. “Holy shit! I was so excited!” exclaimed Keys. The next hours became a whirlwind as Keys told her managers and coworkers at the 7-Eleven. Keys is still undecided about whether to quit her job as she has taken a lot of pride in her work.

Word on whether her family in Goldsborough, North Carolina has heard the news is unclear but Keys states “My family are like leeches. I’ll have no problem denying them, but I might share.” Future plans with the remainder of her money have yet to be seen. Still keeping it mum to her husband, Keys is looking forward to a trip to Disney land and a lot of shopping.

The exact lottery numbers printed on Keys’ ticket read 5, 45, 16, 11, and 16. Now she can easily pay bills and ignore calling creditors. Keys satisfyingly says aloud “I ain’t low class.”
