Slurpie Specialist Wins $100 Million Lottery

A Santee woman is celebrating after winning $100 million in the California State Quick Pick Lottery Thursday night. Charlotte Keys, 34, claimed her prize on Friday morning in La Jolla.

“’Holy shit!’ was the first thing I said when I won the lottery. It was pure excitement, can’t explain it any other way. It was like getting my first dog, complete shock,” said Keys, who has held a job in a local 7-Eleven as a “Slurpie Specialist” for the past 10 years.  Keys had walked into work this morning and asked a clerk to check her ticket for her. She had no idea she would be the winner of a grand $100 million.

Keys, from Goldsboro, North Carolina, moved to Santee, California ten years ago. “I will finally be able to pay bills again. No more calls from the creditors, I can finally answer my phone again,” Keys said, when asked how this lucky win may affect her life.

“My dream is to open a laundromat with my lottery money. I would put in magazines, a coffee shop, oh God, a coffee shop! When I was young, my mom took me to laundromats and I would crawl on the dirty, dirty floor,” said Keys. She plans to build the laundromat in Beverly Hills, with an apartment above where she will live with her husband. Andrew Keys, to whom she has been married to for 10 years, is a garbage truck driver who has just been fired. “I’m not telling my husband about my win until he finds another job,” Keys said, laughing.  Keys has no intention of giving her money away to local organizations or charities of any kind.

When asked if she grew up in a low class family in North Carolina, Keys appeared to be very offended. For her closing statement, all Keys said was, “I ain’t low class”.

The winning numbers drawn Thursday night were 5, 45, 16, 11, 16.
